Golden Fang

1.5 oz
A spirit whose flavor profile revolves around juniper berries. Originally from the Middles Ages, modern gin is a derivative of the Dutch drink jenever (genever). You can make a home-made gin by simply infusing vodka. There are a large number of recipes online.
0.5 oz
A high strength (57% ABV) gin distilled in Plymouth, England. It is the strength demanded by the Royal Navy.
0.75 oz
The second most common juice used in cocktails. This citrus juice is about 6% acid; 4% from citric and 2% from malic, with small amounts of succinic acid (this is what gives it a little bloody taste). Lime juice should be used the day it is squeezed, some like it freshly squeezed and others like it a few hours old.
0.5 oz
A citrus juice used in many cocktails, both for its sweet and tart taste and its color. Orange juice, unlike lemon and lime, can be kept fresh for days. In a blind taste test, most people liked day-old orange juice.
0.5 oz
A syrup with ginger root flavoring. Make it yourself: Combine 120mL fresh ginger juice, 100g superfine sugar (about 2:1.5 by mass). Or you can also boil some ginger slices in a simple syrup mixture. We always assume a 1:1 syrup unless otherwise noted in the recipe itself.
0.25 oz
A concentrated fruit syrup made from the pulp or 'juice' of passion fruits. You can make it by combining equal parts (by mass) pasison fruit purée to simple syrup. We always use 1:1 syrup unless otherwise noted in the recipe itself.
0.25 oz
A syrup made from the flavoring derived from orchids of the genus Vanilla. you can make it yourself by adding vanilla extract or fresh vanilla pods to simple syrup. We always use 1:1 syrup unless otherwise noted in the recipe itself.
4 drop
Bitters made with the cardamom spice as well as rinds from various citrus; try it in rum-based drinks.
1 bunch
Aromatic plants used in cocktails as a garnish or muddled into the liquor to add a light fresh taste. Common in the Mint Julep.
1 piece
A tree bark spice, commonly used as a grated garnish in cocktails, an ingredient in the cocktail, or floating as a whole piece as a garnish.

Short shake all the ingredients with ice for about 5 seconds, then strain into a tulip glass. Fill the glass with crushed ice. Garnish with an orchid and mint bouquet. Light the end of the cinnamon stick until smoldering, then insert it into the drink. Serve with a straw. #shake #whip #ontherocks

Tyson challenged us to put orange juice on the menu, as we always have a surplus of oranges left over from making twists. This one is a riff on the Cobra’s Fang, a classic tiki drink. -Jon Armstrong
