Blackberry Bourbon Julep, Batch

A small berry that is used as a garnish or muddled for its tangy, sour flavor and dark color.

A syrup made from dissolving granulated sugar (sucrose) in water. Regular simple is made by combining 1:1 sugar:water by mass, rich simple is 2:1 sugar:water by mass although only 1.5 times as sweet as regular. We always use 1:1 syrup unless otherwise noted in the recipe itself.

Divide the berries among 4 mint julep glasses or rocks glasses. Add 2 tablespoons of simple syrup and 8 mint leaves to each glass. Muddle, and mash the berries and mint. Add 1 shot of bourbon to the mixture and stir. Fill each glass with lots of crushed ice and pour 1/4 cup of bourbon over the ice in each glass. Garnish with lots of mint sprigs. #batch #muddle #stir #ontherocks
