Fernet Cocktail


1.75 oz
A blended multi-grain whiskey produced in Canada, containing large percentage of corn spirits. Rye variants are called 'rye whiskey' in canada although they typically contain only small amounts of rye.
0.25 oz
A grape distilled base amaro made from various herbs, such as myrrh, rhubarb, chamomile, cardamom, aloe and saffron. Typically 45% ABV.

A syrup made from dissolving granulated sugar (sucrose) in water. Regular simple is made by combining 1:1 sugar:water by mass, rich simple is 2:1 sugar:water by mass although only 1.5 times as sweet as regular. We always use 1:1 syrup unless otherwise noted in the recipe itself.
1 dash
A concentrated aromatic bitters made in Trinidad from water, ethanol, gentian and other herbs and spices; used in many classic cocktails like the Manhattan.
1 twist
An orange colored citrus fruit. Many types of orange make an appearance in cocktails. The peel and juice are equally valuable to diverse cocktails.

In cocktails, cherries are sweetened in a brine, like maraschino cherries (marr-ə-SKEE-noh) or in brandy, like brandied cherries. They are usually used as a garnish, muddled into the cocktail, or used simple for their sweetened brine.

Stir all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with an orange twist (discard) and a cherry. #stir #straight
