Mint Julep, Walker Percy’s

5 oz
A whiskey made primarily from a corn grain mash, aged in charred oak barrels.
5 sprig
Aromatic plants used in cocktails as a garnish or muddled into the liquor to add a light fresh taste. Common in the Mint Julep.
4 Tbsp
Granulated sugar is a sucrose formed with glucose and fructose join by covalent bonding. Sugar is soluble in water, increasing the surface area (smaller grain size) or heating the water, dissolves sugar faster. Some cocktails use sugar directly but more use it indirectly in syrups/liqueurs.

Add 2 or 3 tbls of sugar with a bit of water in a highball glass or julep cup. Muddle to form a paste. Add a layer of fresh mint leaves. Muddle gently, don't smash them. Add some crushed ice. Add a sprinkling of fine sugar and mint leaves on top. Top with another layer of ice and mint/sugar, repeat until its over-flowing. Pour in about as much bourbon as your glass will hold, turns out its probably about 5 oz. Drink it thought the day. Store it in the fridge for tomorrow. #muddle #swizzle #build #ontherocks

This is an all-day type of drink.
