The American Trilogy

0.75 tsp
A granulated sucrose product (1/2 glucose to 1/2 fructose) made from molasses. What makes mom's chocolate chip cookies taste so dang good (and butter) (and love).
2 dash
A bitters made from Seville oranges, cardamom, caraway seed, coriander and burnt sugar.
1 oz
Water into which carbon dioxide gas under pressure has been dissolved, creating a fizzy texture. We treat soda water, club soda, seltzer and sparkling water the same.
1 oz
A whiskey distilled from a grain mash that contains at least 51% rye, a grass and member of the wheat tribe 'Triticeae.'
1 oz
A phrase/brand used in the US for an apple-flavored brandy distilled from cider, usually aged in oak. We treat this the same as apple brandy.
1 twist
An orange colored citrus fruit. Many types of orange make an appearance in cocktails. The peel and juice are equally valuable to diverse cocktails.

Put the sugar cube in a room-temperature rocks glass and saturate with the bitters. Add a splash no bigger than a teaspoon of club soda and gently muddle to make a paste. Add the whiskey, applejack, and 1 large ice cube. Stir 10-15 times and garnish with an orange twist. #muddle #build #ontherocks

“This drink came about without much trial and error. . . Although the cocktail’s contents may not technically by 100 % American, neither are the two bartenders who married it in a glass.” -Richard Boccato
