A spirit whose flavor profile revolves around juniper berries. Originally from the Middles Ages, modern gin is a derivative of the Dutch drink jenever (genever). You can make a home-made gin by simply infusing vodka. There are a large number of recipes online.

A whiskey made primarily from a corn grain mash, aged in charred oak barrels.
0.5 oz
A watered down syrup made from lime juice, sugar and water. You can make it yourself! Google it!
2 dash
A class of bitters that a broadly made from aromatic herbs, spices, fruits and botanicals. This includes Peychuad and Angostura bitters. You can make these at home. There are plenty of recipes online for various bitters, a good book source is 'Bitters' by Brad Parsons. The only down side is they generally require hard-ish to source ingredients.
4 oz
A naturally sweetened and carbonated beverage. It can be bought with or without the addition of alcohol, but this depends on which country you live in.
1 wheel
An orange colored citrus fruit. Many types of orange make an appearance in cocktails. The peel and juice are equally valuable to diverse cocktails.
1 sprig
Aromatic plants used in cocktails as a garnish or muddled into the liquor to add a light fresh taste. Common in the Mint Julep.

Add all ingredients except ginger beer to a shaker. Add ice and shake until chilled. Strain into an old fashioned or Collins glass. Top with ginger beer and add ice. Garnish with an orange wheel and mint sprig. #shake #ontherocks


The Suffering Bastard was created in a Cairo bar during World War II. The British troops holding the line at El Alamein would drink well during leave. Created for a patron with a hangover, the bartender got the bitters from a pharmacy across the street.
