The Bedstone

0 rinse
A distilled, highly alcoholic (45-75% ABV), anise-flavored beverage derived from botanicals like wormwood, green anise, fennel, hyssop, melissa and other herbs. Technically a spirit, as it is not bottled with sugar. The green fairy.
5.5 oz
A whiskey made primarily from a corn grain mash, aged in charred oak barrels.
0.5 oz
A brand of triple sec produced in France. It is drunk as an aperitif, degestif, and used in cocktails like the margarita; 40% ABV.
1 dash
The most common fruit juice used in cocktails. This citrus juice is about 6% acid; pure citric acid. Lemon juice should be used the day it is squeezed, some like it freshly squeezed and others like it a few hours old.
1 twist
An orange colored citrus fruit. Many types of orange make an appearance in cocktails. The peel and juice are equally valuable to diverse cocktails.

Add absinthe to a chilled martini glass and give it a whirl to coat. Pour bourbon and orange liqueur into an iced shaker, add a splash of fresh lemon juice and shake until chilled. Discard the absinthe in the martini glass. Strain the mixture into the glass and garnish with an orange twist. #shake #straight

Adapted from Rick Wesley, Angus’, NYC. We have triple a checked the existence and accuracy of this drink, and yep you’re as surprised as we are... Basically a glass of bourbon; not for the faint of heart.
