Layman’s Mint Julep

1 sprig
Aromatic plants used in cocktails as a garnish or muddled into the liquor to add a light fresh taste. Common in the Mint Julep.
2 dash
A syrup made from dissolving granulated sugar (sucrose) in water. Regular simple is made by combining 1:1 sugar:water by mass, rich simple is 2:1 sugar:water by mass although only 1.5 times as sweet as regular. We always use 1:1 syrup unless otherwise noted in the recipe itself.
2 wheel
A yellow citrus fruit. The peel is often used as a garnish while the juice incorporated into the drink for a tart flavor profile (citric acid).
1.5 oz
A whiskey made primarily from a corn grain mash, aged in charred oak barrels.

In a Collins or rocks glass, gently muddle mint with simple syrup to release oils. Add lemon wheels and muddle to release juice. Add crushed ice or small ice cubes and pour bourbon over. Swizzle gently with a bar spoon or swizzle stick to mix. Garnish with a mint sprig and a lemon wheel. #muddle #build #ontherocks #swizzle
